Frequently asked questions

Photo identification, watering reminders, teams and your account: the questions we are asked most often about Arroseo.

Discovering Arroseo

Arroseo is a mobile app for identifying plants and looking after them. From a single photo, it recognises the species and displays its full plant file: scientific name, origin, light, soil type, temperature and toxicity. It then schedules the watering, feeding and repotting reminders for each plant. You can follow your garden on your own, or share it with a team: flatmates, family or colleagues. Plants you come across away from home can be kept in the Herbarium.
The free version covers the essentials: an unlimited number of plants in your garden and in the Herbarium, watering reminders and one team. It shows ads, and photo identification asks you to watch one beyond the first three scans. Health diagnosis, feeding and repotting reminders, choosing the time of your reminders and the widget are reserved for Arroseo+. The detailed comparison is on the Arroseo+ page.
Arroseo is available on iPhone and on Android. The app is not optimised for tablets and iPads: it works on those devices, but the user experience is not at its best.
Arroseo is available in French, English, Spanish and Italian. The app automatically follows the language set on your phone.
Yes, an account is required to use the app properly. It is the account that saves your plants, your care history and your teams. If you change phone, you will find all of it exactly as you left it.

Identifying a plant

Open the scan tab, then photograph the plant or pick a photo from your gallery. Identification takes a few seconds. Arroseo then offers to add the plant to your garden, with its plant file and its watering frequency already filled in.
Frame one sharp leaf, in daylight if possible, and avoid photographing the whole room around it. The more the plant fills the frame, the more reliable the identification.
Three scans are free, with no ads. Beyond that, identification stays available with no limit on the number of scans, but each one asks you to watch an ad. With Arroseo+, identification is unlimited and ad-free.
You can run the scan again with a different photo, or correct the name directly in the plant file once the plant has been added: it stays editable at any time. Identification by artificial intelligence is an aid, it does not replace a check.
No. Identification is carried out by an artificial intelligence hosted on our servers: an internet connection is required.
Yes. Identification works on any plant you photograph, indoors as well as in the garden or out on a walk. Plants you do not grow can be kept in the Herbarium.

Herbarium

The Herbarium is a collection notebook for the plants you come across every day: a plant spotted in a park, a flower at a friend's home, a shrub seen on holiday. After a scan, you can keep the plant in the Herbarium rather than adding it to your garden, even if it does not grow at your place. It is a way to build up your botanical knowledge, one plant at a time.
The garden brings together the plants you look after: each one gets a watering frequency and reminders. The Herbarium keeps the plants you have identified without growing them: it sends no reminders. At the end of each scan, the app asks you to choose between the two.
Each file carries a number and the date of the scan. It brings together a “Did you know?” fact, the plant's needs — light, watering, fertilizer — and its identity card: family, species, origin, region, temperature, soil, toxicity and resistance. An Observations field lets you note where you found the plant or what state it was in; it is saved automatically.
Yes. From the plant file, the “Add to my garden” button moves the plant into your garden, with the watering frequency of its species: the reminders then begin. The plant disappears from the Herbarium.
Yes. The Herbarium is included in the free version, with no limit on the number of plants. The scans that feed it follow the usual rules: three free scans, then one ad per scan, or no ads with Arroseo+.

Health diagnosis

The health diagnosis is a guided exchange, along the lines of a plant hospital. You describe the symptoms you can see — yellow leaves, spots, wilting, insects — and you can attach a photo. The app works its way back to a likely cause, whether disease, pest or deficiency, then sets out what to do. This feature is reserved for Arroseo+.
It is a lead, not an expert opinion. It is generated automatically and can be wrong: check the symptoms before applying any treatment, and for a plant that matters to you, ask a professional.

Reminders and watering

When you identify a plant with the Arroseo scan, a watering frequency in days is worked out from the species. That frequency is indicative. You can then change it by hand, shortening or lengthening the interval to suit your plant and the season. The next watering is calculated from the date of the last one. If your plant gets thirsty sooner — full sun, heating, a small pot — change the frequency in its plant file: you are the one who is right, not the species average. Conversely, if the soil does not have time to dry out between two waterings, the reminders probably need spacing out further.
Nine times out of ten this is a permissions problem. First check that notifications are allowed for Arroseo in your phone settings. On Android, also turn off battery optimisation for the app: otherwise the system puts it to sleep and the reminders are never sent.
In the free version, reminders are sent at 8 p.m. Arroseo+ lets you choose the time they are sent.
Yes, on the same principle as the watering reminders. Both are part of Arroseo+.
Yes. The widget shows the plants to water that day right on your phone's home screen, without opening the app. It is part of Arroseo+.
Open the plant file for that plant and change the date of the last watering. The next reminder is recalculated from that date.

Teams

Every team has a QR code and an invitation code. You share either one: the person you invite scans the QR code or enters the code to join the team.
A team is made up of members and admins. Admins can promote, demote and remove the other members. The person who created the team is the only one who manages the list of shared plants.
The limits depend on the subscription of the person who created the team, not on that of the people who join it. If the creator is on the free version, the team is limited to 2 members and 3 shared plants. If they have Arroseo+, the team has no limit and the other members can stay on the free version.
Add the person taking over to your team, then share the plants concerned. They get the plants, their watering frequency and the guidance on each plant file, without you having to leave separate instructions.
There is only one action: leaving the team. It is deleted automatically once the last person has left it.

Account and data

Deletion is done from the app, in your profile. It is immediate and final: the account, the plants, the teams and the associated data are erased on the spot, with no waiting period and no way of restoring them.
The photo sent for a scan or a diagnosis is analysed by our artificial intelligence provider, which does not keep it. The photos you add to your plants are stored in your garden and deleted along with your account. The details are in the privacy policy.
Not for now: the address linked to your account cannot be changed in the app.
